Motorcycle Battery Maintenance

Perhaps, for some motorcyclists, isn't the 6 volt motorcycle battery just a small power source? What secret does it have? But actually, motorcycle batteries do have some secrets. If we know these secrets well, it will be easier for us to improve its performance and prolong the life of the battery in future use. Conversely, if we ignore the existence of these secrets, the battery will fail prematurely.

Is it mains power?

NO! The 6 volt motorcycle battery is not the main power source of the motorcycle. It is actually just an auxiliary power source of the motorcycle. The real main power source of the motorcycle is the generator. If the main power source damages the battery, there will be a power loss phenomenon. The generator and charging system should be checked first.

Do dry batteries have electrolyte?

Motorcycles are divided into dry batteries and water batteries. Many riders think that dry batteries have no electrolyte. In fact, this perception is wrong. No matter what form of lead-acid battery it is, its main internal component must be lead. And acid, only then can it play its role.

It's just that the production process of dry batteries and hydro batteries is different. When the dry batteries leave the factory, the electrolyte has been added to the batteries, and the hydro batteries need to be added later.

In addition, the liquid level of the electrolyte must be added to the upper marking line when installing the water battery. If it exceeds or is too low, it will affect the service life of the battery, and the new battery must be left for half an hour when it is used for the first time. Charging is required.

Small current or high current charging?

When charging the 6 volt motorcycle battery, it is also very particular. First, the voltage is not easy to be adjusted too high during charging. Try to use a small current for a long time to charge. Secondly, during the charging process, the water battery must be covered with air holes. Exhaust state, and also need to keep away from heat and ignition sources, otherwise there is a danger of explosion.

Short battery life? Losing electricity fast?

Riders may have encountered the phenomenon that the newly replaced battery will be scrapped in the process of using the battery. The main reason for this phenomenon is actually directly related to a part in the motorcycle charging system.

It is a rectifier regulator. If the rectifier regulator is slightly damaged, the voltage fluctuation of the charging system will be relatively large. Under this premise, the battery will suffer from power loss and overcharging. Therefore, when the 6 vole motorcycle battery is not durable When the phenomenon occurs, the rectifier regulator should be replaced decisively.
